XERF is a non-invasive radiofrequency (RF) skin-tightening treatment designed to heat deeper layers of tissue and stimulate collagen remodeling.


How it works

RF energy penetrates below the skin — XERF uses 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz RF frequencies to deliver energy at different tissue depths.

  1. Tissue heats up — controlled heating causes existing collagen fibers to contract and triggers a wound-healing/remodeling response.

  2. Collagen remodeling begins — over the following weeks and months, fibroblasts produce and reorganize collagen and other extracellular-matrix components.

  3. Skin gradually becomes firmer — this can translate into improved laxity, smoother texture, and more defined facial contours.

What’s the difference between XERF and Thermage FLX ?

Both XERF and Thermage FLX are non-invasive monopolar radiofrequency (RF) treatments used primarily for skin tightening and collagen remodeling. The biggest difference is how the RF energy is delivered and controlled.

The important technical difference

Thermage:
6.78 MHz RF → volumetric heating → collagen contraction/remodeling

XERF:
6.78 MHz + 2 MHz RF → ability to change how energy is distributed through tissue → broader/deeper heating strategies

The lower 2 MHz frequency isn't simply “twice as deep.” Actual heating depth depends on tissue impedance, electrode geometry, power, pulse duration, contact, and treatment technique. That's important when explaining XERF scientifically.

For patients, I would simplify it to:
